Morning Smoothies to Kickstart Your Day

Sep 08, 2019

This summer my husband and I got back to enjoying morning smoothies! Yes I do intermittent fasting from time to time because it's awesome but this summer my body craved healthy fruits and veggies in a big way so I answered it with morning smoothies!

Morning smoothies are not only delish but they are also a delicious alternative that ensures that you are getting loads of naturally occurring vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Plus, you gotta love that smoothies retain all the filling, gut-friendly fiber from fruits and veggies.#winwin

There isn't a  science to smoothies, but in my opinion, a killer smoothie recipe should include some veggies ( leafy greens like kale and/or spinach) along with some fruit (berries are a solid low-sugar option and bananas add good texture),  healthy fats and protein ( nuts and nut butters, seeds, and avocado are awesome, a plant based protein powder and chia seeds rock too).

Here are some of my go to recipes:

Keto Matcha Green Smoothie

This recipe is actually keto friendly! Thanks to the avocado it is nice and creamy and it's perfectly sweet from the raspberries! Oh and the matcha helps give  a small hit of caffeine and a dose of antioxidants! Talk about an awesome way to start your day right?

Ingredients

  • 2 cups baby spinach
  • ½ cup raspberries
  • ½ cup cashew milk
  • ½ cup ice
  • ½ avocado
  • 1 tbsp. collagen powder
  • 1 tbsp. coconut oil
  • ½ tsp. matcha powder

Directions:

Blend in a blender and enjoy!

Peanut Butter Chocolate Smoothie

When a Reese's sounds good this is PERFECT! I mean it's pretty much a healthy milkshake! :)

Ingredients

  • 1 serving vanilla protein powder
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter (or almond butter)
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons chia seeds
  • 2 cups unsweetened nut milk
  • 1 teaspoon cacao nibs

Directions:

Blend in a blender and enjoy!

Berry-Avocado-Kale Smoothie

Sipping on this deliciousness very morning can help keep your hormones balanced. Nice right?

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup almond milk (or other non-dairy milk)
  • 1 cup of dark leafy greens
  • ½ cup frozen berries
  • ½ banana or avocado
  • 1 scoop collagen powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground flax seeds
  • Optional: nut butter, dark chocolate chips, vanilla extract, cinnamon

Directions:

Combine all ingredients and blend in a blender until smooth.

Having all of the ingredients on hand at all times makes enjoying a healthy delicious smoothie super easy!!!  Smoothies are even a great mid day snack or lunch if you're in a rush! I always have almond milk, macadamia milk, nut butters, good plant based protein powders, collagen powder, flax seeds, bananas/ frozen bananas, frozen berries and greens in our fridge and pantry! I highly recommend it for you too because I want you to feel and be your healthiest and best self!

 Cheers!
